Windows has launched no less than 8 operating systems throughout the years, but the latter is quite troubled – this is why it is due to be updated in the near future. However, the Threshold plans of the Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) giant are known to include a release of Windows 9 next year, most likely around April 2015, according to a Paul Thurrott Report. At the time being, Microsoft has not released too much information on Windows 9, although it is expected to do so at the Build Developer Conference in April this year.
Microsoft has allegedly sold tens of millions of licenses for Windows 8, even though the operating system has been widely criticized by users immediately after it was launched, and it is believed that Microsoft will embed a Start menu return in the Windows 9 OS.
The current version has already been updated back in October 2013 when Windows 8.1 was released. However, it is known that until the release of Windows 9, Microsoft will firstly release an update for the current operating system. Rumor has it that the Microsoft software maker is in the final planning state for the Windows 9 operating system as we speak, and maybe it will officially announce the features and functions of the new OS during the Build 2014 conference mentioned above.
Microsoft has certainly enjoyed a great deal of success when Vista was launched, although Windows 8 did not generate as much excitement amongst users. However, Windows 9 is expected to be the next major release from the company, as it will address the most notable issues related to the current operating system, some of which will be firstly fixed with the release of Windows 8.2 anytime soon.
Also, it is believed that Windows 8.1 update will include some phone software improvements as well. The updated version of Windows currently addresses the tiled layout, which is now made more accessible to touchscreen devices (especially tablets). One of the most common complaints users had about Windows 8 was about the not-so-user-friendly interface, which they claim to have been very difficult to access with the classic mouse and keyboard – the update aimed to make the operating system easier to access via more modern devices. Not only is the new operating system easier to access via tablet, but the visual elements as well as the overall performance of the OS have been dramatically improved as well.
Other rumors regarding the Windows 9 OS have it that Microsoft will fix the METRO design language and that a window-mode of the OS will be added as well.
