The Internet giant Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) surely does not seem to hold back when it comes to expanding its services and partnerships – as Michael O’Leary, the Ryanair boss claims, Google will soon launch a price comparison engine that will help customers find the best priced tickets for their budget and destination.
This price comparison tool is especially designed for airline travel and the new partnership is expected to be one of the most popular of its kind. However, the exact details about this partnership are still a mystery – all we know is that this innovative comparison tool will redefine the way we search, select and purchase airline tickets online.
This partnership is mutually beneficial both for Google and for Ryanair, and some of the future developments target the price of the tickets. As O’Leary claimed in an interview with Sunday Independent, the airline will share the pricing through all the available Google outlets – this way, customers will find the cheapest prices quickly and with minimal effort with the help of this tool. In a nutshell, Google will only display the price of the airline ticket and when the user clicks on them, he will be redirected either to Ryanair or to another vendor.
Also, O’Leary claims that Google has no interest in charging Ryanair, given the fact that the Internet giant has always been relying on advertising rather than on charging its partners for such services. However, Google will certainly not deliver biased search results – whenever a person is searching for a specific ticket, the comparison tool will thoroughly scan, analyze and select all the routes provided by all the airlines available, and then deliver only the most cost-effective options. In other words, the purpose of the tool is to deliver only the lowest airfare on those particular routes and, as O’Leary claims, Ryanair surely has very affordable prices.
In addition to this, the boss of Ryanair also says that there is expected to be a “technological revolution” coming up in the next few years, one that would mainly target the mobile users given the fact that they can also boost the revenues of the airline company. The company will, most likely, come up with a technology that will allow its customers to pay for their tickets, drinks and snacks via mobile, which is surely more convenient than going to an agency and paying with cash. This is part of a more individual marketing campaign that Ryanair is believed to launch in the future.
