Google founders believe human life advancements never have to be based on excessive deployment of earth’s valuable resources. This noble thought has been one of the major reasons why Google is always after the expansion of renewable energy. Google has recently signed a 407 MW wind power agreement to back up the additional power need of the Lowa data center. With too many tech projects currently in hand, no doubt the futuristic company is going to have a demand of a huge power supply in the future.
Sources believe Google is equally concerned about the growing need of power by its data centers and the increasing loss of earth’s most precious energy sources at the same time. The search engine pioneer never declines about many new future possibilities where it sees mankind having an unbelievable access to techno world, but not at the cost of man’s own future. This is why the organization continued investment in clean and renewable energy. The ultimate aim is to reduce carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emission. The initial investment of few years made by Google is definitely going to help the world be green and accomplish social advancements without compromising mother nature’s wellbeing.
According to Neha Palmer, Google’s head of energy strategy and development, the recent wind power deal is the Google’s seventh and largest energy commitment so far. As for now, the total amount of renewable energy contracted by Google for its facilities is one thousand megawatt. Google’s total investment on 15 renewable energy contracts has been $1 billion so far. Investors may expect other companies like Facebook and Microsoft to enter the game. However, Facebook’s plan to set up a data center with the help of MidAmerican’s wind power is still in process. On the other hand, Google has already acquired a prominent place in the sector by making heavy investments and entering contracts with wind power production facilities. For a record, Google has been scored at 48 percent clean energy use lately.
According to analysts, Google’s increasing inclination for expansion and development of renewable energy may also make it a green energy leader in the coming years. Google has always emphasized on using green energy for its own infrastructure and facilities. Although the company never gave any such indications, critics believe that possibility is also there that the company may make new collaborations with other players and become a self sustained source for such a priceless natural resource in the future. Google’s future aspirations are high. The company is definitely going to liquidate many new technology deals in the long run. Does the company also thinks about becoming a major renewable energy industry participant going forward? Only time will be able to clarify that aspect.
With a mounting need of power supply at the residential and commercial spaces, the developed countries are on the verge of seeing an irreversible power shortage. They are going to struggle and may also indulge in political fights to be at the forefront. If Google really becomes the green energy powerhouse, develop country’s dependence on Google’s energy facilities will rise. Does anything like this the search engine company has in its mind?
